Spring '12 Competition Theme: "Macro (Closeup)"

ThemeMacro or Closeup Photography reveals a hidden world that is all around us. Now is the time to learn how to use the macro feature on your compact camera or to buy an extension tube for your SLR camera. The subject matter is endless, from insects to flowers to patterns, get close and see what you can do!
How to EnterTurn in up to ten images from April 1 through April 30, 2012 using our ROES online ordering software (choose catalog "Competition"). Do this from your own computer or in one of our three stores. (Catalog will only be online during the month of April).
FeesPrints are $7.95 each plus a $3 entry fee per photo. Optional return shipping (if you cannot pick up photo in store) is $5.95.
Helping OthersHalf of all entry fees benefit Sonoran Arthropod Studies Institute.
AwardsJones Photo gift certificates of $100 (1st), $75 (2nd), $50 (3rd), $50 (People's Choice). Also ten Honorable Mention ribbons.
People's ChoiceCustomers can vote online between 9am April 1st and 8am on April 8th.
Rules and Information
1)Our photo contest is offered quarterly. The deadline for the winter contest is January 31, spring contest is April 30, summer contest is July 31, fall contest is October 31. In the event that one of these dates falls on a Sunday, the deadline will be Saturday. Entries will only be accepted during the month of the deadline (i.e. summer entries can be turned in between July 1 and July 31, etc.).
2)) Each quarter has a unique theme. Entries not adhering to the theme are unlikely to win an award. Either color or black & white images are acceptable. Images deemed offensive, including nudity, will not be accepted.
3)Entires must be digital files submitted using our ROES ordering software through the "Competition" catalog. This can be done online from your own computer or at a computer station in one of our stores. Jones staff will be happy to help you place your order in store. Images from negatives, slides or prints will have to be scanned first at one of our stores for an additional fee.
4)There are no restrictions regarding how a file is altered or manipulated. The only requirement is that the photo is your own creation and is not deemed offensive.
5)Each photographer may enter up to 10 photos per competition. There is an entry fee of $3 per picture. Half of these fees will be donated to a local charity. See "Helping Others" above for the name of the charity.
6)Each contest will have a first, second and third place and People's Choice winner, plus 10 honorable mentions. These 14 winning photos (along with all other entries) will be displayed at Jones Photo's main lab (2901 N. Country Club) for a month after the contest deadline. Entries may not be picked up early. Prizes are a $100 processing certificate for first place, a $75 processing certificate for second place, a $50 processing certificate for third place and a $50 processing certificate for People's Choice. All awards except People's Choice are decided by a panel of professionals from the photographic industry. The judges' decisions are final.
7)All Photographers (amateur and professional) are eligible to enter EXCEPT Jones Photo staff and their immediate families.
